Ranveer Singh turned 30 on Monday and we can’t imagine Bollywood without him, can we?
Be it his boyish smile, hair falling over his face, acting skills, colourful dressing sense and infinite love for Govinda- he surely makes movies a better place.
The success of his debut film Band Baaja Baarat Baarat in 2010 found the actor gaining a foothold in the industry which kept on getting stronger with his stellar performances in films such as Lootera, Ram Leela, Dil Dhadakne Do, Gunday etc.
With no connection in the film industry, Ranveer managed to take B-town by storm at a time when Hindi movies was ruled by the Khans, Kapoors and the Kumar.
In his five year journey, he made a lot of close friends (We’re looking at you Deepika), wore his heart on his sleeve, found his ghaati soul-mate in the form of Arjun Kapoor, starred in more rumors than movies and continued dancing his way through every promotional event.
And, how can we forget his style?
The bright colours, the hats, the quirky printed suits- sometimes bordering on ‘What was he thinking when he was wearing that?’ , the floaters or the round glasses ensure that it doesn’t matter if you love him or hate him, you simply cannot ignore him. No film had him spotting the same look, with the actor making a conscious effort to experiment with his style.
Thus, on his 30th birthday, we decided to remind our readers the transformation of Ranveer Singh ‘Bhavnani’ to the Ranveer Singh we know today:
Before he made us laugh as Kabir Mehra, he was the Bittu we all loved and wanted to have bread pakoda and do ghaati dance with. His look in the movie was clean-shaven, messy hair, velvety clothes and lots of dimples.
Despite his long hair and questionable choice in jackets, he still didn’t lose his female fan base during this phase.
Lootera claimed the actor’s place in the top actors category in Bollywood. His intense eyes, clean and charming look had people sit up and take notice. Ranveer Singh, the actor had arrived and how!
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Goliyon ki… Ram Leela paired the actor opposite his rumoured girlfriend Deepika Padukone and the chemistry between the two had everyone breathless. Singh was also complimented for his look in the film. He grew his beard, moustache and altered his hairstyle for this Indian adaptation of Romeo-Juliet.
Ranveer Singh came to Season 6 of Koffee With Karan with best-friend Arjun Kapoor in tow and surprised us with his new look- extremely tight houndstooth pants and brown hair. It’s a good thing his sense of humour remained intact.
Ranveer Singh acted in a commercial. Or rather danced, and made us go buy Ching’s products. His pirate-like look in the ad had us swooning. Sorry Jack Sparrow!
Promotions for Dil Dhadakne Do saw the actor in hats, bright printed suits, floaters and Anushka Sharma as arm candy. Are you watching, Deepika?
His partner-in-crime Arjun Kapoor tweeted this on Ranveer Singh’s birthday and we can’t help but agree!
