Half Girlfriend song 'Thodi Der' is about Shraddha Kapoor's passion to become a singer
Half Girlfriend's 'Thodi Der' is sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Farhan Saeed, and penned by Kumaar.
Mohit Suri's adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's novel Half Girlfriend will hit the screens on 19 May.
The book follows the love story between Madhav Jha and Riya Somani. Shraddha Kapoor plays Riya Somani, a Delhi girl who comes from a very affluent family, and Arjun Kapoor plays Madhav Jha, a Bihari prince who cannot speak English very well. The two meet at St Stephens College in Delhi and bond over their love of basketball.
Riya is passionate about two things: basketball and singing, while Madhav's world revolves around basketball and Riya.
While the book doesn't explore Riya's passion for singing until the third part of the book where Riya runs away to New York to become a jazz singer, it looks like the film will be showing us more of Riya's love for music.
'Thodi Der' is sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Farhan Saeed, and penned by Kumaar. The harmony between the tunes of the acoustic guitar and harmonium gives perfect contrast to the song, and gives meaning to Kumaar's lyrical genuis.

Madhav says he wants nothing other than to hear a beautiful girl singing for him. Whether it is college, the Delhi metro or an open mic night at a bar, Riya wants to try her hand at singing and strumming the guitar. Here's the song:
Arjun Kapoor, who plays a Bihari boy in Half Girlfriend, says the makers have tried to break preconceived notions about Bihar and its people with the film.
Does Mohit Suri’s Half Girlfriend retain that line, immortalised by Chetan Bhagat. Deti hai toh de, varna kat le. The answer? In a bit.
