Yesterday we laid our eyes on the first official photo from the upcoming Sherlock special. As if that wasn’t enough to get the already enthused fans excited, today we have the first look from the special.

That’s like Christmas for Sherlock fans who usually have to wait for months and even years for news about their favorite show.

The clip was released at the Sherlock panel at the San Diego Comic Con and is exactly what was needed after the photograph teased us with vintage Holmes and Watson. It shows us the setting of the story in ancient London and how the detectives were originally envisioned by Arthur Conan Doyle.

So we see a Benedict Cumberbatch’s Holmes without the curls and Martin Freeman’s Watson with a curly mustache as they get off a horse carriage and enter their 221B flat at Baker Street.

We also get a glimpse of Mrs. Hudson who utters her trademark line, ‘I’m your landlady’, but ends with ‘NOT a plot device’ referencing John Watson’s diary on which the books are based.

In addition, we also see a throwback to The Hound of Baskerville and Holmes with his quintessential deerstalker and pipe. Overall, from what we see of the trailer, this special seems to be a fitting tribute to the source material.

The trailer ends with ‘Coming soon…ish’ teasing the fans for the show’s long absence. Now, to wait till we actually see the entire special.
