B-town stars celebrate as Rekha gets 3rd National Yash Chopra Memorial Award

Also on stage are Pamela Chopra, Shatrughan Sinha and Sushilkumar Shinde, among others. The award has been instituted by the TSR Foundation of T Subbarami Reddy in memory of the producer-director, who died in 2012. Previous winners of the award are Lata Mangeshkar and Amitabh Bachchan. On receiving the award, the veteran actress said, “Am honoured to be bestowed this award in Yash ji’s memory. Yash ji thought me how to love and I am eternally grateful for the memories and films that I have had the privilege to be a part of. I can only say that this is not the climax, this is only the best phase of my life and there is a lot more to come. The two veteran actors starred together in several films including Khoon Bhari Maang and Jaani Dushman. Jaya Prada was one of the members of the Jury constituted to zero in on this year’s awardee. Other members included Pamela Chopra, Simi Garewal, Boney Kapoor, Pinki Reddy and T Subbarami Reddy himself as its chairman. The Jury unanimously decided that Rekha should be the recipient of the award this year.
