All Is Well trailer: Thumbs up for Abhishek Bachchan-Rishi Kapoor chemistry

Have you ever wondered how it would be like if Little Miss Sunshine was re-made in Bollywood? It would obviously have to be made suitable for our audience, which means no gay brother (Sorry Steve Carell) and no heroin or drugs related issues. But the idea of a dysfunctional family on a road trip isn’t too un-achievable for a film industry that thrives on family-related movies and ensemble casts (we’re looking at you, Sooraj Barjatya). That’s probably what the makers of the upcoming Abhishek Bachchan-Rishi Kapoor starrer All is Well were thinking. [caption id=“attachment_2323170” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]  Screengrab from the trailer[/caption] In the film, Rishi Kapoor plays an eccentric father, who perpetually needs to pee and is a failed-baker as he’s taken on way too much debt. His wife, Supriya Pathak, is unwell and the road trip starts with the family taking her to an institution. Abhishek Bachchan plays the dutiful son, or atleast tries to be, and hates being compared to his father, but we know where that is going to end up, so no points for novelty. We can see an immediate friction between father and son, while Asin plays Bachchan’s wife in the film. We are shown that there is trouble in that relationship as well. (Thankfully there isn’t a forced love story here) Doesn’t sound particularly appealing, right?  The premise seems confusing because we aren’t told a cohesive story, but just some random snippets on what to expect, and the trailer reveals way too much loud acting. However, director Umesh Shukla’s last film was the Paresh Rawal-starrer Oh My God so we’re not completely abandoning hope on All is Well being a decently funny film. There’s the chemistry between Bachchan and Kapoor that looks promising, what with both being good actors, and their love-hate relationship seems to be the highlight of the film. Also, you can’t really go wrong with scatalogical humour if it’s done tastefully (read: Piku) and we have faith in Rishi Kapoor’s acting abilities to give us an aesthetically done sub-plot around his peeing problem. Throw in an item song (featuring Sonakshi Sinha) and several unexpected plot twists and you get All is Well. Watch the trailer here:
