Aamir Khan has launched a poster-thon to promote his upcoming film, PK and so far it has worked like a charm in grabbing the attention of the media and audiences alike. With the trailer of the film yet to be launched, Khan has already got everyone talking about PK with three posters that has been unveiled so far(you can read about the posters here, here and here) and by the look of things, it seems, the buzz around PK is not going to fizzle out anytime soon. [caption id=“attachment_1756623” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Courtesy: Youtube[/caption] In a recent video released by the makers of PK, Anushka Sharma promises the audiences that in the next poster (fourth poster) of the film, we will see her posing with just transistor. Sharma is following the footsteps of her PK co-star Aamir Khan whom we saw completely naked but for a transistor, that he held very strategically to protect his modesty, in the first poster of PK. While that poster did stir a lot of controversy as well as a few court cases, it also accelerated discussions about this Rajkumar Hirani film and Sharma’s poster is also expected to do the same. When the first poster of PK (that had a naked Khan posing with a transistor) hit the internet, some might have been quick to label it as a ‘publicity gimmick’, Khan had called it art. “This(nudity in the poster) is not for publicity, not for us atleast.” Khan had said. “In fact, this poster imbibes all the elements of the film.” he added. However, with Sharma doing the same thing, it is difficult to tell how much the script demanded these naked shots and how much of it was done for publicity’s sake. Watch the video here:
However, so far, after three poster launches, we know nothing about the story of PK, but we do have some sense of the characters in PK and their sense of fashion (which seems to be a touch catastrophic at the moment). However, seven more posters of PK will be released, so perhaps some time soon, we’ll get some sense of the plot in Rajkumar Hirani’s newest film. Here’s what we do know so far. According to this video on Rediff, Anushka Sharma’s character in the film is that of a journalist who is secretly (wait for it) a prostitute. Aamir Khan plays PK, who is an alien. The role of Sharma’s boyfriend is being played by Sushant Singh Rajput. None of this really explains why the title character would be standing naked on train tracks with a transistor attempting to salvage his modesty, so let’s hope poster number four give us some more clues about PK after it is launched on Whatsapp, on 16 October.
