The 140-character suspense: How about Sania Mirza as the Bond girl?

Hyderabad: How about tennis star Sania Mirza as a Bond girl? A few years ago, speculation ran high on Freida Pinto being paired with Daniel Craig. There were even talks of the Slumdog Millionaire girl signing a multi-million pound deal for a fresh 007 instalment. Speculation - that’s the closest it went for an Indian making it as the love interest of the fictional British secret service agent. Now, here’s some stir in the social media over Sania being in a Bond movie slated for release late next year. [caption id=“attachment_1799553” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![Courtesy: Facebook ](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/sania_380.png) Courtesy: Facebook[/caption] Sania had social media followers in a tizzy on Monday with her cryptic messages on Twitter. “Bond is world icon. Thinking of taking the Bond offer,” read one. She didn’t stop there. She added a teaser, saying: “Watch this space for more. #ultimatebond” After a lapse of some hours, Sania Mirza tweeted on Tuesday evening: “Truly irresistible. Mirza Sania Mirza ;-) Going ahead with BONDing. Need ur good wishes. #BONDingwithBond.” The Twitteratti, stuck in disbelief initially, was slow to react. Soon there were people favouriting the tweet and retweeting it. There were congratulatory messages all around. Yet nobody seemed to have a clue what was it all about. After all, given her poise, elegance, attitude and camera-friendliness she would not be bad choice for the coveted role. She has been donning the grease paint and dabbling with glamour for sometime now. Her stature as a tennis star, which has grown bigger after WTA victory, makes her an easy choice for a role on the celluloid. While Sania kept everyone guessing on her “BONDing”, it took a few calls from _Firstpos_t to her father Imran Mirza to get some clarity on the matter. An amused Imran said he had been getting calls about his daughter’s tweet. “She must have tweeted in enthusiasm. But it is for a TV promo.” The curtains are now down on the speculation.
