Palash Sen incident: Have we become very intolerant?

Editor’s note: This is a reader comment we got on the article, “  Palash Sen raises hackles at IIT-B: Are there good-looking girls here? ”  As is Firstpost policy, we have lightly edited for grammar and spelling, but the comment has been left as is. by Harsh Kumar If a lot of people want apology from Dr. Palash Sen, then it would be befitting for him to tend an apology. That’s perfectly fine. What’s disturbing is the request which was to ban Euphoria. A huge chunk of the most popular jokes are unflattering takes on Sardards making the rounds via sms-es. So do we ban phones now? Different sections of the media has content making fun of Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi, so do we ban the media now? Someone can make fun of me and believe me I will not be able to ban him / her. [caption id=“attachment_1303163” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![Palash Sen. Agencies.](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/palash-sen.jpg) Palash Sen. Agencies.[/caption] But a lot of people would say these jokes  are not equivalent to being sexist. Could be, but again depends on how touchy one is. Let me quote directly from the blog in question: “However, even if women were to choose to not pursue any other goals, it is definitely not the ambition of women to serve the aesthetic sensibilities of men." I am offended when you say “serve the aesthetic sensibilities of men”, I call that as sexist. So would I request for a ban on the author of the blog post? The only point which I am trying to make here is if people feel grieved by actions of some celebrity and junta wants an apology, that’s perfectly fine. But its when one crosses the thin line and enter the area of intolerance that it becomes a bit unnerving.
