International Women's Day 2017: Our pick of feel-good videos to mark the occasion

What’s trending this Women’s day? From social media frenzy ‘parents’ to adorable grandmothers, spontaneous road trips and Goa trips at 50, here are a few of the videos that had social media abuzz and caught our attention on this Women’s Day. Dekhne Mein Kya Harj Hai Arranged marriage, career goals and all that jazz, definitely contemplation-worth topics for many we’re guessing? Well, this latest short film on arranged marriage and the oh-so-social media friendly parents is the flip side to how we otherwise perceive marriage discussions with the elders. The parents in this video ace their research on the groom, in a very adorable manner we must say.  So, convincing their daughter to meet the boy seems like a piece of cake. What we loved is every time the mother went ‘Oh yes! I saw that on his Snapchat’, ‘Yes, he has a lot of followers on Twitter’, reminds us of candid situations in many households probably. This latest short film is a light and thoughtful take on relationships, priorities and the importance of the freedom of choice.

Arranged marriage - Not really an old school concept anymore, yeah? When girls go on a road trip Road trips and girl gangs are nothing new, but every journey and story of them venturing out always is. We all have that one best friend who is too choosy, the best friend who makes it to the trip, thanks to absolute jugaad back home and the one who has to solely take up the responsibility of driving a thousand kilometers. This short film, based on a road trip from Delhi to Agra, is a genre explored previously but is still a very relatable and crisp take on what it is like to road trip with our main girls and the joy of ticking off travel goals with them.

The 4G song What better than women of four generations from the same family, celebrating womanhood? The 4G song ‘Kanne Va Va’ from down south is a warm glimpse of a fairly strong bond between four women who are the reason for each other’s existence. The millennial, her mother, grandmother and great grandmother come together in what looks like a feel-good package showcasing how relationships bloom as time flies. You cannot not notice the adorable 4G grandma, like they call it in this Tamil short. If you belong to the south, then nostalgia is sure to hit you every now and then. With age-old board games, kolam mornings, the warmth of grandmom’s lap and the evergreen chill spot - an unjal (swing), the musical is a feel good trip to the memory lane in many instances.

Jee Le Zara This video of a man going absolutely berserk at the idea of his wife taking a trip with her girls at 50, is a lovely concept for many women who have played the ideal women for years together. Renuka Shahane, as the wife, is subtle and smiling to glory while her reel husband’s concerns range from bikinis to swimming lessons to a diet. All you lovely ladies, time to pack your bags and break free maybe?
