Forget personalities, why aren't we debating party manifestos

Why don’t we talk about NDA’s manifesto vs UPA manifesto vs AAP manifesto (which by the way does not exist because their committees could not come up with any policies).

Editors note: This is a comment by a reader named Vikram, that we received in response to the article “Rahul, Kejriwal script endgame for Modi in Varanasi, Vadodara” that was published today. As is Firstpost policy, the comment has been lightly edited for language and grammar. It is extremely disappointing that the politics in our country is about personalities rather than policies. [caption id=“attachment_1441247” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]Arvind Kejriwal and Narendra Modi. Arvind Kejriwal and Narendra Modi.[/caption] Why don’t we talk about NDA’s manifesto vs UPA manifesto vs AAP manifesto (which by the way does not exist because their committees could not come up with any policies). Any true citizen of the country should only consider and vote based on the manifesto and the policy program. Isn’t that commonsense? Shouldn’t we demand an objective debate on the policies of each party?
