An agitation will never be appealing to all. But it is better to have short-term pains over long term endemic rut in the system.

Editor’s note: This is a reader comment we received on the article  Betrayal of hope: The 4 mistakes AAP has made in Delhi .The comment has been edited for grammar. By Shashikant Tewary To remove the rut from most of the public institutions/offices in India, force is required. There are no two ways about it. Despite media coverage, I do not see any lawless activity happening. Can the writer specify what is lawless happening here? If protest/dharna is illegal, I do not see what better non violent way to be used to bring/force change. An agitation will never be appealing to all. But it is better to have short-term pains over long term endemic rut in the system. [caption id=“attachment_1351169” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] PTI PTI[/caption] If Chief Minister cannot get his way (in this case for something right, again no two ways about it), then why elect one for a farce? Police is an integral part of Law & Order and has to come under Delhi State, except for certain areas where Central Government wants it. Imagine, MS Dhoni is made the captain to win world cup but all players report to the ICC? Howzzat? After observing the events so far, I realize that media is not able to accept the fact that CM/ruling party/government is on dharna. What’s wrong? Haven’t ruling parties called for a bandh when they have been in power? Yes, the language of Law Minister, Mr Bharti has definitely not been good. You may not like somebody, but spitting on the person is absolutely derogatory and very slave minded. This is totally unacceptable. I request the media to also focus on the inactivity of Home Minister and Delhi Police. Unfortunately, the media is only focussing on the protest. Please constantly highlight the reasons behind the all this. From what I understand, there have been series of events and not just one leading to the current state. What have the past Delhi governments done to bring Delhi police under Delhi state? Can this be highlighted for benefit of all? Let’s make the factors to judge these protests more braod based. Media, please play your role in broadening the horizon. Current Delhi government is an experiment and by law of averages, all experiments are bound to have mistakes. If experiments are success in one go, then in all probability, these are fluke. As far as great Indian hope dying, I see the opposite. I see hope being rekindled because even after election, the elected ones are not cosy in their chairs.I have not seen, atleast in India, any elected government using unarmed people to protest for something justified. I have the following questions (for any one to ponder before making a judgement): For protesting, has the current Delhi government: 1. sent party workers to forcibly close down establishments? 2. sent party workers to burn buses? 3. sent party workers to damage public property? 4. sent party workers to damage toll booths? 5. sent party workers to stop public transport? 6. sent party workers to shut down schools? 7. sent party workers to burn tyres? Where is the hope dying ? There were many skeptics of IAC protest movement, but it led to the current Delhi government. I am sure these protests will also lead to something good. Just be prepared for short term pains because the rut is endemic.
