Bigg Boss 10, Episode 78, 2nd January 2017: Bani, Om, Lopa, Nitibha nominated for eviction

In a shocking turn of events on Colors TV's Bigg Boss 10, Gaurav Chopra, one of the strongest contenders this season, was evicted from the competition in the 1 January episode. While many thought that it would be Mona Lisa who would bid adieu to the Bigg Boss house, considering she isn't as popular as either Gaurav or Bani J, it was Gaurav who got the least number of votes.

Day 78 — episode 78 — of Bigg Boss 10, aired on Monday night (2 January 2017) started with the housemates waking up to the tune of ‘Hum Dono Jaisa Hai Kaun Yaha’.

Mona and Manu Punjabi, however, start the day with an argument after Manu gets upset with  Mona for waking him up in the middle of the night just to have a frivolous conversation. Mona takes Manu’s comments to heart and gets disturbed. Looking at her crestfallen face, Manu tries to have a chat with Mona, when she tells him that she did not wish to disturb him in any way and her actions were completely unintentional. Manu finally apologises to her, which brings a smile on her face. Meanwhile, Bani is seen crying as she is missing Gaurav and rest of the contestants feel that it must be tough for Bani.  Understanding Bani's predicament, Rohan Mehra gives her company.

Lopamudra Raut appears visibly disturbed after having an argument with Rohan the previous day as he remarked that she was exacerbating a argument between him and Nitibha Kaul. Lopa says that she was trying to neutralise the situation but Rohan took it otherwise. While Lopa and Rohan are again having a heated argument, she calls him selfish. Rohan goes to Bani and tells her that Lopa always wants to prove her point and thinks that she is more mature than him when it comes to taking any decisions. Bani advises both of them to talk it out and resolve all the issues. But when Rohan and Lopa try to sort things out, their conflicting thoughts lead to another argument and Lopa throws Rohan’s belongings in the luggage room and walks out. However, Lopa comes back to Rohan when she finds him sitting with Bani and talking about their issue, and decides to resolve the matter for time being. Soon after, a fight erupts between Nitibha and Swami Om after the latter goes around telling Manu and Manveer Gurjar that she (Nitibha) was having a late night conversation with Bani and Rohan, hinting that Nitibha was switching sides. Further, Om irritates Nitibha by interrupting her while she is having a conversation with Manu, Mona and Manveer. She also gets upset with Manu and Manveer for entertaining Om.

Later in the day, Bigg Boss announces the nominations process for the week. The housemates are divided into pairs: Om-Bani, Mona-Manu, Lopa-Nitibha; and each pair is asked to mutually decide on and nominate one person out of them in the confession room. Rohan being nominated for the entire season is not a part of this process, along with Manveer who is the captain of the house. Except for Mona and Manu, all the other pairs have a difference of opinion and are unable to reach a conclusion. Bani and Om get into an argument in the confession room. While Bani thinks that she is more deserving of staying in the game and Om needs to be nominated since he has a bad record, Om disagrees and wants Bani to be nominated. Nitibha and Lopa also find themselves unable to complete the process. Initially, Manu offers to get nominated but Mona decides to nominate herself. Bigg Boss gives them a last chance to come out in agreement. But they all fail to follow Bigg Boss’s commands and get reprimanded for it. Bigg Boss informs them that since they have not been able to reach a conclusion, they will have to be ready to face the consequences. The consequences are quite severe: except for Manu and Manveer, the other four contestants — Bani, Om, Lopa, Nitibha are nominated by Bigg Boss.

Further, Bigg Boss calls both Om and Manveer in the confession room and tells the latter that Om has to leave the house due to some unavoidable circumstances. Meanwhile, Nitibha isolates herself from Manu, Manveer and Mona, and gets friendly with Bani, who advises her to nominate Manu or Manveer to go ahead in the game. Nitibha shows her loyalty towards Manveer and is ready to nominate Manu. She's also seen spending lot of time alone just like Bani. When Nitibha sits in isolation, in order to tease her, Manu and Manveer, too, isolate themselves and sit in two different corners saying that they were walking in the footsteps of Bani, while Mona bursts into laughter. Later, Nitibha is seen talking to herself about how she'd felt bad when all of them had told the show host Salman Khan that she was one of the weakest contestants.
