The next-gen Volvo XC60 has been spotted by Motor1 while testing in its home country Sweden. The new XC60 is reportedly undergoing cold-weather testing and is the second time the mid-size SUV has been spied on, which should hopefully hint at the update for the same being announced soon in the coming year.
The vehicle still has plenty of camouflage on but showcases an overall shape that closely resembles that of the XC90 which was launched in India earlier this year. The new XC60 showcases the new Thor’s Hammer LED DRLs integrated into the new headlamp cluster along with the new grille that when launched, would bring it in line with Volvo’s more recent models, like the S90 sedan and XC90 SUV.
While the side also look pretty much identical to the XC90, the rear once again features the vertical tail lamps. The curved tailgate on the current generation XC60 gets a subtle curve that once again resembles the XC90.
Thanks to the new SPA platform used for the new model, the vehicle has grown in size, compared to its predecessor. This should get occupants more room along with additional luggage space.
For now there’s no confirmation on the what comes inside the next-gen XC60, but it should pack in internals similar to the previous model. This would include a 254bhp, 2.0-litre petrol engine. Considering that the XC90 also arrived in a plug-in hybrid variant, we could see a similar variant of the same being announced as well.
Volvo recently launched two new hatchbacks for the India market. The new hatchbacks, the Volvo V40 and the Volvo V40 Cross Country are basically facelifted V40s featuring a few design upgrades and are available in a number of trims.
