Swedish car-maker Volvo will be launching its luxury sedan, the S90, in India next month. The car is currently said to be available for pre-booking in the country and the company is expected to begin deliveries after it is officially announced. The Volvo S90 is expected to go official on November 4 and will be replacing the S80. The company currently sells the S60, S60 Cross Country, V40, V40 Cross Country, XC60 and XC90 in India. The S90 is expected to arrive with a price tag ranging between Rs 57 lakh to Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom). With that kind of pricing, the new sedan will compete against the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series and Audi A6. The S90 is based on Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) technology and will arrive in the top-end T5 Inscription trim initially. The company is also rumoured to bring an all-wheel drive version later. The 2.0-litre engine on the S90 can churn out 233bhp and is mated with an 8-speed Geartronic Automatic transmission gearbox. Expect a bunch of high-end features like all Volvos including a Bowers & Wilkins sound system, navigation and climate control, Nappa leather upholstery, touchscreen climate-control interface for rear passengers and multiple drive modes.
