Volkswagen Tiguan rated 'Best in Class' by Euro NCAP

Volkswagen has announced that its new Tiguan has scored five stars in the crash tests conducted by the European New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP) authorities across the globe. The Tiguan won the award for ‘Best in Class’ in the small off-roader segment. The news come soon after the company showcased its new Tiguan Allspace that is set to go official early next year at the Detroit Motor Show. The Tiguan already passed the demanding Euro NCAP crash tests and received a five star rating back in June. The tests were conducted taking four sub-areas into account, proactive occupant protection system for children and adults, pedestrian protection and driver assistance systems. Volkswagen Tiguan 3 To add to the stringent tests were the new child size dummies which have been used as a part of the testing equipment for the very first time. Pedestrian protection saw another safety aspect come into the picture, the active bonnet feature. The feature has been desined to reduce head injuries in the event of a collision. Coming to assistance systems, the Tiguan impressed with its ambient traffic monitoring system “Front Assist” with City Emergency Braking that has been put in place to reduce the severity of the accident if not prevent the accident altogether. Volkswagen Tiguan In the 2015, the Volkswagen Touran won the “Best in class” award. The Tiguan is one of the vehicles that the German automotive giant plans to haul into India. It was first showcased in the 2016 Auto Expo as well.
