Nissan India has been putting out teasers hinting at the launch of a new model of its Terrano SUV. With more than one teaser video on the automaker’s social media handles, it’s easy to conclude that Nissan is bringing its Terrano AMT to Indian roads soon. According to ZigWheels, the Terrano AMT will pack in the same automatic transmission that is available on the Renault Duster. What has not been confirmed is whether Nissan has any plans to turn the Terrano into a serious 4x4 compact SUV. This is because apart from the new automatic transmission, pretty much everything else is expected to remain the same, which also mean no all wheel drive. The Nissan Terrano AMT will be offered in XL Plus and XV Premium variants. Also expect it to be priced higher in comparison to the manual variants.

Coming to the engine, there’s the same old 1.5-litre diesel engine that delivers anything from 85PS to 110PS depending on the variant chosen. Sadly though, the launch of the AMT version is only expected to happen after the festive season. The Economic Times pointed out that Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. plans to launch 8 new cars in India by 2021.
