TVS becomes second-largest scooter maker since overtaking Hero during April-February fiscal period

TVS sold 7,43,838 units during the April-February fiscal period according to SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufactures) data, which is a growth of 5.07 percent.

TVS becomes second-largest scooter maker since overtaking Hero during April-February fiscal period

TVS Motor has reportedly overtaken Hero MotoCorp, making it the second largest scooter seller in India. TVS sold 7,43,838 units during the April-February fiscal period according to SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufactures) data, which is a growth of 5.07 percent. The numbers last year during the same period were 7,07,884 units. On the other hand, Hero MotoCorp sold 7,19,987 units of scooters during the period under as compared to 7,31,967 units a year ago which is a drop 1.64 percent. The leader however was once again Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) having a total of 29,34,794 compared to 25,44,872 units last year, which is a growth of 15.32 per cent. Honda Activa has been the best selling scooter with 2,17,098 units in February, followed by TVS Jupiter with 51,817 units and Hero Maestro with 32,421 units. The fourth and fifth position is being fought for between Japanese two-wheeler makers Yamaha and Suzuki. Yamaha Motors in India has sold 3,95,704 units compared to 2,87,921 from last year, an up of 37.43 percent. Suzuki Motorcycle India sold 2,51,504 scooters as compared with 2,05,680 units sold in the year-ago period, an increase of 22.28 per cent. Notably, the total sales of scooters in the domestic market grew 11.7 per cent in the April-February period this fiscal at 51,17,997 units as against 45,81,640 units in the same period last fiscal.
