Porsche has just announced its new SUV in India, the Macan R4. Priced at Rs 76.84 lakh (ex-showroom Maharashtra), Porsche India is said to have started bookings of the new car at a booking amount of Rs 10 lakh. Apart from the R4, Porsche sells the SUV in three other variants, Macan S diesel, Macan Turbo and Macan Turbo Performance Package. With its price, Macan R4 is the cheapest variant. The R4 features a 2-litre, 4 cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that can produce 248bhp along with 370Nm of torque. According to Porsche, it can go from 0-100kmph in 6.7 seconds with top speeds reaching 229kmph. The transmission is handled by a 7-speed dual-clutch PDK auto box with a four wheel drive system. It comes with Porsche’s air suspension with PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) making it more agile.
The SUV features a 3-zone climate control, an 8-way electrically-adjustable driver’s seat, cruise control, a powered tailgate and a multi-function sports steering wheel with paddle-shifters. Other prominent features include daytime running LEDs, 18-inch alloy wheels and personalisation options like air suspension, bi-xenon or LED headlamps, a panoramic sunroof and heated seats.
The Macan R4 will take on the Jaguar F-Pace
which was recently launched in India at Rs 68.40. Of course it is priced higher, but that extra money makes the Porsche a beast. The Macan R4 will be a direct import from Germany and will be sold through its showrooms in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Gurgaon, Bengaluru, Kochi and Kolkata.
