Tata Motors today announced its new platform and strategy for passenger vehicles called Tamo. It is said to act as an incubating center of innovation towards new technologies, business models and partnerships to define future mobility solutions.
The company also announced that it will showcase a new car dubbed as ‘Futuro’ which will be a two-seater, mid-engined sportscar concept, at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
According to a report , Futuro will be placed as an exclusive offering giving it exclusivity. The company will limit the production run to 250 units. The car is believed to be a modern interpretation of the Opel Speedster also known as the Vauxhall VX220. Another source claims that it will be taking inspiration from Alfa Romeo. Tata Motors is said to be working to restrict its cost to Rs 25 lakh with production models expected to arrive by mid-2018.
The company hasn’t revealed much info but has said that it will be a ‘big deal for the Indian automotive industry.’ It is expected to feature a 1.2 Revotron engine with a turbocharger that will be able to produce 180bhp. The company is also aiming to keep the kerb weight at 800kgs.
Tata Motors recently launched its new premium crossover Hexa with pricing starting at Rs 11.99 lakh. It features a 2.2-litre Varicor 400 diesel engine that can produce 156 bhp.
