Porsche’s latest iconic 911 sports car, the GT3 RS, has been officially launched in India at a special launch event at the company’s centre in Bengaluru. The new 911 GT3 RS packs in a 4.0-litre, six-cylinder engine which is the largest engine in the 911 range. The engine is paired with a dual-clutch (PDK) transmission and is capable of producing 493 BHP at 480 Nm of torque. This means that the GT3 RS can lift-off from 0-100 kmph in just 3.3 seconds can reach up to 200kmph in just under 11 seconds.
According to Porsche, the 911 GT3 RS is a masterpiece of lightweight design, the roof is made of magnesium, the engine and luggage compartment lids are made of carbon fibre and other lightweight components are made of alternative materials. The new RS model is around ten kilograms lighter than the 911 GT3. Porsche has also added features like rear-axle steering and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus with fully variable rear axle differential lock.
The interiors of the car looks similar to the GT3, but gets full bucket seats that are based on the 918 Spyder. The dashboard too has been stripped down in order to reduce the weight and even the door handles have been replaced by straps further reduce weight. Other features that are a part of the Club Sport Package include a bolted-on roll cage behind the front seats, provision for a battery master switch, separate six-point safety harness for the driver, and fire extinguisher with mounting bracket.
