Mysterious Ferrari spotted at the Nurburgring suspected to be 488 GTO with KERS technology

A mysterious Ferrari in the body of the 488 GTB was spotted at the Nurburgring. The ca could be a hybrid KERS  system the company could be working on.

The car was filmed and uploaded to YouTube by Automotive Mike. While nothing has been mentioned officially yet, it could be an early test unit of the Dino, a revival Ferrari  fans have been waiting for decades altogether.

Having revealed the 812 Superfast at Geneva, Ferrari could drop another surprise car as a part of its 70th-anniversary celebrations this year. Something ’the prancing horse’ fans could expect is the rumoured 488 GTO. The  rumoured  performance numbers suggest an output of 700 horsepower (521 kW) from a Ferrari bi-turbo 3.9-liter V8, which won the ‘Engine of the year’ award  concluded in Germany recently. The second successive time it has won the award.

While that could be possible, it’s only speculative, with Ferrari being mum on the matter. This leads fans to believe that we’re looking at the revival of the Dino brand. As reported  by Motor 1, Ferrari’s CEO Sergio Marchionne even hinted back in 2015 that an entry-level V6 engine model could make its way to production. But so far, the company has yet to make any of it official.

Ferrari has also already confirmed that its lineup will be entirely hybridised by 2019, so it could be likely that the mysterious Ferrari is a Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) -equipped 488 test mule. Adding KERS to the 488 would reportedly boost the power output from the current 670 horsepower (493 kW) up to the rumoured 700 horsepower mark, and possibly further.
