Moto Guzzi has finally, officially launched its much-awaited V9 scramblers in India along with a brand-new cruiser for those who love long rides. The Italian motorcycle manufacturer has launched the V9 in both Bobber and Roamer variants and a new model called the MGX 21. While bookings for the Bobber and Roamer in India opened a while ago, the price tags are finally out. The V9 twins will be priced at Rs 13.9 lakh, while the MGX 21 will retail at Rs 27.78 lakh. Both price tags are ex-showroom Pune and will be sold via Piaggio’s Motoplex showrooms that are currently open at Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kochi. Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber[/caption] Both Moto Guzzi motorcycles share the same platform and will take on offerings from competitor brands like Harley Davidson’s Iron 883 and even the Triumph Street twin. The difference is purely cosmetic with the Bobber having a bolder look along with those chubby ballooned tyres and matte black finished paint job.
As for the innards, both bikes use the same chassis and engine which includes a transversely mounted 850cc V-twin motor that uses the traditional shaft drive to deliver power to the rear tire. The engine pushes out a maximum of 54bhp and develops a peak torque of 61Nm. The transmission is a 6-speed gearbox that comes standard. The Moto Guzzi MGX 21[/caption] Coming to the new cruiser, Moto Guzzi refers to it as the ‘Flying Fortress’ and with its flaring, bagger-style stealth black looks, it surely looks like one. While the bike features an overall matte-black finish, there are plenty of tiny details. In fact the tank and fenders feature a carbon-fibre like finish.
The MGX 21 offers a massive 1400 cc, 90 degree transverse V-twin engine that churns out 96bhp and develops a peak torque of 120Nm. And the Fortress would indeed need plenty of control and stopping power. There’s ABS, adjustable traction control, a Ride-by-Wire accelerator and cruise control. TeamBHP points out that the MGX 21 cruiser will only be available on order.
