An orthopaedic surgeon in the US was recently involved in a car accident along with his family when his Tesla Model X was hit by a GMC truck at over 72 kmph. Jonathan Braman was surprised and glad as all six passengers and his dog survived the fateful incident without having any serious injuries.
Braman has been a longtime electric vehicle lover and he credited Tesla and Elon Musk for making the one of the safest vehicles. He currently owns a Tesla Roadster which he got back in 2010 and reserved his Model X back in 2012. After waiting four years, he took delivery of the all-electric SUV in April of this year. After just four months in his new electric car, he is convinced and says that he wouldn’t mind waiting another four years if it can save his family from any road accidents again.
He also mentioned that he was surprised by the efficiency of the airbags in the Model X. The airbags covered the entire passenger compartment including the panoramic windshield. His only injury was from the impact of the airbag on his hand, which thankfully was only a bruise.
The owner believed that if it was any other car, it would have likely rolled over from the impact. But probably the low centre of gravity, thanks to the large battery pack, helped keep the Model X to stay firm on the ground.
