MMSC ties up with Mazda Road to Indy program for the 2016 National Racing Championship

The 2016 season of the MMSC National Racing Championship just got a lot more interesting as the Madras Motor Sports Club announced their tie up with the Mazda Road to Indy driver development program. The MMSC has said that the champion of the MRF Formula Ford 1600 series will get an entry ticket into the Mazda Road to Indy program. The winner of this program will get a $ 200,000 scholarship to participate in the Verizon IndyCar Series and the famed Indianapolis 500.

MMSC president, Ajit Thomas said, “We are pleased to announce our tie-up with the Indy Racing League for the Mazda Road to Indy scholarship shootout, which is further evidence to our commitment to develop talent in the sport.”

Apart from the MRF FF 1600 category, the 2016 season of the National Racing Championship will also host the Formula LGB 1300, Indian Junior Touring Cars, Indian Touring Cars and Superstock championships.

In the coming season, the MMSC has made a change to the Formula LGB 1300 category by turning it into a rookie class, with a maximum age limit of 25. The best racers in this championship will get a scholarship into the 2017 MRF FF 1600 championship. MMSC will conduct shootouts for scholarships in the 2016 championship at the MMRT in Chennai, from December 8-11.
