Mercedes-AMG has taken the wraps off of what could be one of its most aggressively designed roadsters yet. It’s called the AMG GT Roadster. The open top convertible was unveiled (in pictures) weeks prior to the 2016 Paris Motor Show where it will be officially unveiled to the world. It will be available in two versions, a standard AMG GT Roadster version with 456bhp and a mind-numbing 549bhp version called the AMG GT C Roadster. It gets an AMG built 4.0-litre twin turbo motor that should be enough to get your head buried into those luxurious seats while accelerating. The convertible accomplishes 0-62mph is 3.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 196mph. There’s the performance tuned exhaust and electronic differential as standard and its body gets wider than the usual roadster to accomodate the wider wheels as well. Also available is the rear-wheel steering system from the GT R Coupe. At the back an active pop-up rear spoiler (shown above) that extends and retracts according to the driving mode. The standard GT Roadster weighs in at a hefty 1670kg while the GT C Roadster gets chunkier at 1735kg. Pricing of both Roadster variants have not been disclosed.
