Los Angeles Auto Show: Lamborghini unleashes the 2017 Huracán Spyder

The Los Angeles Auto show begins tomorrow but we are already hearing about some interesting launches. Italian sports car maker Lamborghini has announced a new “treat for the eyes”. The new Huracán Spyder 2017, specifically the LP580-2, is the latest offering from the car maker.

The mid-engined Spyder will feature a rear-wheel drive system (instead of the usual AWD) and will be up for grabs at a price tag of $4,29,000 (Rs 2.9 crore) when it launches next year. It will be powered by the same 5.2-litre V10 engine which produces 426kW at 8000rpm and 540Nm from 6500rpm. The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.

Lamborghini claims that it can launch from 0-100kmph in just 3.6 seconds with top speeds reaching 319kmph. The claimed fuel economy is 12.1L/100km, of course if you can shell out that kind of money for the car, then fuel consumption obviously shouldn’t be a concern.

It comes with unique suspension settings which includes softer springs and stiffer anti-roll bars when compared to the AWD variants. There is also a special electronic stability control (ESC) program and specific Pirelli PZero tyres. The soft-top can be opened and closed in 17 seconds at speeds up to 50kmph. One can also electronically open or close the rear windshield as well if they want to listen to the aggressive V10 engine.

The new Huracan Spyder gets new large air intakes to help increase downforce. Apart from the slick upholstery, you also get a 12.3-inch digital instrument display on the inside.
