Los Angeles Auto Show: Chevrolet Beat Active showcased, could arrive in India next year

GM has just showcased the production version of the Spark Active at the ongoing Los Angeles Auto Show. The Chevrolet Beat Activ concept, also known as the new-gen Spark, was showcased earlier this year at the 2016 Auto Expo. There was news that GM would bring the Spin MPV to India to replace the Enjoy however that plan was cancelled. After showcasing the Beat Activ concept, GM India President and Managing Director, Kaher Kazem had said, “There was an overwhelming response from our Indian stakeholders to the Beat Activ when we revealed it at the Auto Expo in Delhi. As a soft-roader, the vehicle is ready for any adventure or challenge, while its interior ensures the driver remains comfortable and connected.” The Beat is probably the most reliable car from the brand in India and bringing a new version could help GM gain some sales volume. It features swept back headlamps, a bigger bumper comes with large round fog lamps, a dual grille design and heavy plastic cladding on the lower half of the bumper along with a faux skid plate. Other changes include large roof rails, sporty alloy wheels, new ORVMs, raised ground clearance, a roof-mounted glossy black spoiler, new tail lamp cluster with LED lights and a plastic cladded rear bumper with rear skid plate and reflectors. ![beat-activ (2)](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/beat-activ-2-e1479711712970.jpeg) Inside the car gets new black-silver finish, new steering wheel, and premium quality seats. The US-version of the car offers air conditioning, power windows, remote keyless entry, rear view camera, cruise control as standard features. There is an optional seven-inch touchscreen with support for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Hopefully GM will bring all the features when the car hits the Indian market. Talking about the motor, there is a 1.4-litre engine with 96bhp and develops 127Nm of torque. The Indian model is expected to remain the same which means the 1.2-litre petrol engine and 1.0-litre diesel engine. The new Chevy Beat Activ is expected to arrive next year with a price ranging between Rs. 5-9 lakhs.
