Isuzu Motors has been trying to establish its presence in India for quite some time now and since everyone is on the SUV market, Isuzu went in with a pickup truck instead. Isuzu Motors India has launched a new range of Isuzu D-Max in S-Cab and Regular Cab variants and D-Max V-Cross adventure utility vehicle as well. The Isuzu D-Max V-Cross is priced at Rs 12.84 lakh, while the D-Max S-Cab variant is priced a bit lower at Rs 8.14 lakh and the Regular Cab at Rs 6.58 lakh (all ex-showroom Jaipur). The V-Cross has been introduced to cater to SUV buyers who want something more out of their SUV and something that stands out. With a frame that is a foot longer (3095mm wheelbase) than the Tata Xenon, the pickup truck pretty much defines the word ’large’. Drive around in this pick up and you will get noticed (for a number of reasons). The SUV features a bold and muscular design with wide fenders that shows that this pickup means business.
One thing owners will never run out of in this vehicle is space. The interiors don’t look fancy but seem practical and roomy. At the back there is plenty of space (1485 x 1530 x 465mm) in the loading bay as well, in case you want to haul in something large. The D-Max V-Cross features a CRDi engine that generates 100kW of power and thanks to the variable geometry turbocharger and inter-cooler, it produces a peak torque of 320Nm. It features a Shift-on-fly 4WD linked to a 5-speed manual transmission. As for the D-Max Regular Cab we get 4 Cylinder, Common Rail, VGS Turbo Intercooled Diesel that produces 100kW and once again 320Nm of torque. Being a commercial pick-up, it skips on the 4 wheel drive and goes with a 5-speed manual instead. The regular cab features a single cab while the S-Cab variant feature the same specifications with double cab space.
