The much-awaited update to the Honda Accord is finally here. The first model coming to India will be the Hybrid version with its launch taking place on 25 October, right on time for the festive season. Dealers in India have reportedly begun to accept pre-bookings for the same.
The base price for the Honda Accord Hybrid is expected to start from Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi). With that said, Honda is also expected to bring the petrol version, but at a later date.
And it is a much-awaited update indeed. It has been a really long time since Honda brought the last Accord model to India, so much so that it is not even listed on the company’s website. The new Honda Accord Hybrid is expected to be a hot-seller, and is also expected to compete with Toyota’s Camry Hybrid that is already available for purchase.
The ninth generation Accord comes with a big face lift, however, it is not as aggressive as the previous model and falls more in line with the Hyundai Elantra
sporting a subtle European design. Inside, there are updated interiors and there is a also a large 7-inch infotainment touchscreen system.
Coming to the bits that matter, the Honda Accord Hybrid features a 2.0-litre petrol engine along with twin electric motors that brings the total power output to 200bhp. The peak torque levels top out at 300Nm which is not that bad for a hybrid sedan.
