Honda unveils new model of its Gold Wing touring motorcycle starting at $23,500

**Honda**  has unveiled a new model of its touring motorcycle Gold Wing at an event held at California’s Museum of Exploration and Innovation (MOXI) in Santa Barbara. The 2018 Gold Wing tourer has two variants that includes the 2018 Gold Wing Tour and the standard 2018 Gold Wing. The three variants of the Gold Wing Tour are Gold Wing Tour, Gold Wing Tour DCT, and Gold Wing Tour DCT Airbag, whereas the 2018 Gold Wing has two variants that includes Gold Wing and Gold Wing DCT. The new tourer has got an update in terms of weight, technology , engine, chassis and electronic units as compared to the previous model of the Honda Gold Wing. It is lighter, technologically advanced and comes with a new engine, chassis and electronic suit. The 2018 Gold Wing tourer comes with 1,833 cc liquid-cooled six-cylinder engine. The engine is more compact, fuel efficient and lighter compared to the previous model. 2018 Gold Wing’s engine is 13.7 lbs is lighter, when equipped with a six-speed manual transmission. The company has made the engine 29 mm shorter in the front and placed it forward in the chassis for ideal weight distribution. [caption id=“attachment_4177267” align=“alignnone” width=“1280”] 2018 GL1800 Gold Wing[/caption] Both the variants of the Honda 2018 Gold Wing come with two transmission options, including a six-speed manual transmission and a seven-speed automatic dual clutch transmission (DTC). The DTC transmission allows the rider to switch the bike into forward and reverse walking mode. Honda has also decreased the weight of the frame and swing-arm by 4.4 lbs to improve the ’nimbleness’ of the bike. A new double-wishbone front suspension system and Showa shock absorbers have been included at the front and rear of the bike. Radially mounted front calipers and 320 mm rotors brings an upgrade to the breaking system of the tourer. The electronically controlled ABS on the bike allows more control to the rider, with its distributed braking for both the sides of the bike. The tourer brings the Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) and Hill Start Assist in the electronic section to ride through various conditions. It has a 7-inch TFT LCD display which is equipped with Apple CarPlay that allows you to connect your device for contacts, music and maps. The Gold Wing Tour and Gold Wing Tour DCT comes in Candy Ardent Red, Pearl White and Pearl Hawkseye Blue colours. Whereas, the Gold Wing Tour DCT Airbag comes in Candy Ardent Red and Black. The Gold Wing Tour is priced between $26,700 – $27,200 (approx Rs 17,29,092- Rs 17,61,472), the Gold Wing Tour DCT comes in a price range of $27,700 – $28,200 (approx. Rs 17,93,852-Rs 18,26,232) and the Gold Wing Tour DCT Airbag is priced at $31,500 (approx Rs 20,40,113.25)  in the US.

The two variants of the 2018 Gold Wing come with less features, equipment and  is also priced lower as compared to the 2018 Gold Wing Tour variants. The Gold Wing and Gold Wing DCT are priced between $23,500 – $23,800 (approx Rs 15,21,989-15,41,288) and $24,700 – $25,000 (Rs 15,99,572-16,19,000) respectively. Theses variants have shorter electric windscreen and with pre-loaded manual adjustment. Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), electric damping-adjust, center stand, and heated grips are not included in the two Gold Wing variants.
