The Jeep Compass which was unveiled back in April will launch in India today after months of speculation regarding its pricing. Jeep also opened bookings for the Compass last month across showrooms and its website. The Compass will be Jeep’s first model to be manufactured in India at Fiat Chrysler Automobile’s Ranjangaon plant. The SUV’s features and specifications were also revealed during its unveiling which spelt out that the Compass will be available in four different variants with five paint shades to choose from. The SUV will be sold in India with the option of two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive. Under the hood, we have a 2.0-litre 170PS diesel engine producing 350 Nm of torque and a 1.4-litre MultiAir turbo-petrol churning 160PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. The SUV will come in both two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive variants. However, the Compass Sport will have only a six-speed manual transmission. The company has gone on to claim that the Compass packs in an excess of 50 safety and security features such as electronic stability control, anti-lock braking system and a dynamic steering torque. The Compass Limited variant will also get a 7.0-inch U-connect infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. While the pricing of the Compass range will be the highlight of the event, it is expected to range between Rs 18 lakh and Rs 25 lakh, depending on the variant.
