BMW announces the new M5 with M xDrive and 8-speed automatic transmission

Just a few days back we heard about the **new BMW 2-series** and today the German car-maker has announced the all new M5 which comes with M xDrive as standard. This is the sixth generation of the BMW M5 sedan and with the new M xDrive system hopes to be one of the best one ever. The unique system comes with a rear-biased set-up where it enables the front wheels only when the rear wheels cannot transmit any more power to the road and additional traction force is required. There are five modes to choose from based on combinations of the DSC modes (DSC on, MDM, DSC off) and M xDrive modes (4WD, 4WD Sport, 2WD).  Under the hood is a 4.4‑liter V8 engine featuring M TwinPower Turbo technology. Of course it produces more power and torque than its predecessor but BMW hasn’t officially revealed the numbers, while some sources say it will be around 600 bhp. It has confirmed the new M5 can be about 100 kg lighter than the last version but in most cases, with the proper accessories and options, the weight reduction is averaged at around 65 kg.  While BMW has explained about its high-end M xDrive transmission system, it is keep most of the numbers under the wraps. Even the first set of official images of the new sedan come with a camouflage treatment.  It is expected to be officially unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor show in September.
