After some rumours
and leaks
, BMW has launched its first compact sedan called the 1 Series in China. The sedan was specifically built from the ground up for the Chinese market with the Audi A3 sedan in its cross hairs. The sedan will go on sale in China early next year and will be available in 3 variants with different trim levels and powertrain options. by AutoHome the sedan measures 4,456 mm in length, 1,803 mm in width and 1,446 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,670mm. The design philosophy is strictly BMW with a kidney grille and an updated look that reminds us of the recently launched models. [caption id=“attachment_348601” align=“aligncenter” width=“640”]

At the 2016 Guangzhou Auto Show there were two cars showcased at the event, one in a blue finish with the standard 5-spoke alloy wheels, while the second was spotted in a yellow finish with polished black wheels. There is a large 8.8-inch LED central display and the BMW iDrive system in here as well. Coming to the stuff that matters, the sedan will be available in three petrol variants only. The base version 118i will be powered by a 136Hp 1.5-litre turbo engine with 6-speed transmission. The second 120i will feature an engine capable of churning out 192Hp, while the top of the line 125i will feature a 231Hp, 2.0-litre engine mated to an 8-speed transmission.
