Benelli Leoncino Scrambler expected to launch in India soon followed by the TRK 502

Italian motorcycle maker Benelli is said to be preparing a couple of product launches for the Indian market. The company, through its local partner DSK Motowheels, will be launching the TRK 502 next year. But before that the company is planning to bring in the Benelli Leoncino Scrambler. Benelli Leoncino Scrambler was first announced at the 2015 EICMA. The Leoncino Scrambler comes with design features including a lean front fender with 3D lion mascot, twin petal discs, projector headlamp with glossy black housing, cantilevered tailpiece and black finished chassis and cycle parts. Paying tribute to the original Leoncino the new Scrambler utilizes a steel trellis frame suspended by USD forks upfront and mono-shock at the rear. The engine is a 500 cc twin-cylinder motor that produces 48 PS of power. It is already selling in Europe and is expected to launch in India later this year around the festive season of Diwali. Expect this one to be priced around Rs 5 lakhs.   Moving on to the Benelli TRK 502, this one is expected to arrive in India by early next year. The adventure motorcycle was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo 2016 and the launch has been delayed as the company getting the bike ready for launch with proper safety features.  According to an interview with Bikewale, Shirish Kulkarni, chairman, DSK Motowheels said, “We will launch the TRK 502 early next year. The version that is ready right now is non-ABS and alloy wheels with road tyres. We cannot launch an adventure bike in India with these specifications as the market won’t accept an adventure bike with road-biased specs. So we decided to wait a bit and bring the ABS and spoked-wheels with off-road tyres version only. I’m trying to get the bike in by December 2017, but as of now, the launch will happen only in January or February.”  The Benelli TRK 502 features a steel trellis frame along with the same twin-cylinder four- stroke liquid-cooled 500cc as the Scrambler. It can produce maximum power of 35 kW at 8500 rpm and 45 Nm of torque. It also features two front discs, 320 mm in diameter, and two-piston floating caliper. The rear disc is 260 mm in diameter and similarly gets a twin piston caliper.
