2017 Jeep Compass mule spotted testing in Bengaluru
The 2017 Jeep Compass will be manufactured locally (which should help bring down the price tag) at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' (FCA) Ranjangaon facility in Maharashtra.
We have been waiting for Jeep to arrive in India at they finally did. What we did not expect, were the premium price tags with every single Jeep vehicle that was launched. Still then, Jeep also wants to break into the mids and what better than to build and export the new 2017 Jeep Compass in India. But before it is rolled out, comes the testing phase and the 2017 Jeep Compass was spotted once again testing in India, this time on the streets of Bengaluru.
Spotted by IBTimes, the Compass would be the ultimate Jeep offering for India, keeping in mind that the company wants to compete with offerings from Hyundai, Honda, Ford, Chevrolet and even bigger premium brands like BMW and Audi.
The vehicle will be manufactured locally (which should help bring down the price tag) at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' (FCA) Ranjangaon facility in Maharashtra.
It will be rolled out to markets next year with a total of five engines options including three petrol and two diesel, across different markets globally. These include a 1.4 multiair turbo, a 1.6 and 2.0 turbo diesel, 2.4 tigershark petrol, 2.0 tigershark flex fuel (ethanol), and transmissions include a 6-speed manual/auto, and a 9 speed auto.
It will feature a 3.5- or 7-inch LED driver information display (DID) instrument cluster, steering wheel with integrated audio, voice and speed controls. In terms of the exterior the legendary seven-slot grille gets a fresh look with individual chrome slots in a Gloss Black field.
The FCA's Ranjangaon Jeep Compass manufacturing plant will be special because it will be the company's only RHD plant in the world, one that will also cater to export demands.
The Jeep Compass SUV will reportedly be offered in a total of five variants: Sport, Longitude, Longitude (O), Limited and Limited (O).
Apart from the refreshed design, compared to the previous model, the new Jeep Compass will also go big on safety and is said to provide more than fifty safety features.
