2017 Jeep Compass debuts in Brazil, features a modern redesign and 170hp engine

The 2017 Jeep Compass was unveiled in Brazil on Monday. The vehicle will be offered in 17 different powertrains across 100 countries. Designed and manufactured by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, the vehicle’s production will begin in Brazil. Detroit News reports that the vehicle’s design takes inspiration from the Jeep Grand Cherokee and uses a similar, LED headlamp setup. The design of the vehicle is more modern and more curvy than the angular designs of yore. Jeep claims that this will be their “most capable SUV ever,” but haven’t revealed more information on what makes it so.  The standard version of the Compass will feature a 2.0 litre diesel engine that can churn out 170hp of power. Obviously, the vehicle will support a 4x4 mode. No information on other expected features has been revealed yet. A Jeep spokesman says that the Compass and Patriot line have been doing consistently well these last couple of years, managing 100,000 units yearly. He also added that sales have grown each year since 2012. The Jeep Compass is expected to debut in India in the Rs 20 lakh price range, but a launch date is uncertain. Expect more details at the Jeep’s official debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.
