The 2016 Hyundai Tucson, showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo, was known to be launching sometime around October in India. According to Cardekho, it is all set to hit Indian roads just ahead of Diwali on 24 October. The bookings for the car are expected to begin soon in a week or two. After the launch of the new Elantra and the recent Creta 1st Anniversary Edition , it was obvious that Hyundai would not let go of a market that it expects to grow this year. With the Tucson, that will be placed somewhere between the Creta and the Santa-Fe, Hyundai has its eyes set on the Rs 10 lakh plus market. The 2016 Hyundai Tucson will be built on company’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy. It will reportedly get a 2.0-litre diesel engine that is seen in the international models, along with 185PS of top power and 400Nm of torque. The diesel version will get an automatic transmission, besides the manual one. For the transmission, owners will have the option of a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The engine is expected to be tweaked while the mated gearbox will also feature revised gear ratios that should match the requirements of an SUV. The petrol variant reportedly generates 152PS of max power and 192Nm peak Torque. With its looks and powerful engines, the SUV is believed to bring in some stiff festive competition to competitors like Honda, Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. The new Tucson is likely to be priced somewhere between Rs 20-25 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
