Rebuilding a home: A prolonged lockdown allowed my family to grieve what is lost, find solace in what remains

A solemn coming-together for a few days to mark the death of a parent with whom I shared a troubled relationship metamorphosed into a month-long family visit, courtesy the nationwide lockdown. I realised that my mother, brother and I needed to be together and process our anger, pain, regret and grief collectively, as we held each other close.
