Cassie De Pecol is the first documented woman to visit every sovereign nation. The 27-year-old traveller from Connecticut (United States) is also the fastest person to do so.
De Pecol's journey around the world, which took 18 months and 26 days, smashed the previous record of three years and three months.
While travelling, she spoke to over 16,000 university students in 40 countries, and acted as a peace ambassador for the International Institute of Peace Through Tourism.
The trip around the world cost about $111,000 USD and was funded by sponsors that De Pecol found throughout the expedition.
De Pecol documented her travels on her blog 'Expedition 196'. She also filmed her travels, and plans to make a documentary soon.
