Slain Libya ambassador a fallen hero: Hillary Clinton

Nov 9, 2012

Washington: Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is praising slain US Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens as a “fallen hero” who understood that diplomacy requires risks.

Nearly three months after Stevens and three other Americans were killed in an attack on the US consulate in Benghazi on 11 September, Clinton said Thursday that the State Department and Pentagon are reviewing security at high-threat diplomatic posts to determine what improvements should be made.

Her comments came as lawmakers step up demands for information about Benghazi. Several congressional committees will hold classified hearings next week amid Republican charges that the Obama administration ignored increased threats to the mission. The State Department and FBI are also investigating. Clinton said as much as possible about the State Department review will be made public.
