‘Multiple victims’ reported in Oakland college shooting

by Apr 3, 2012

OAKLAND, California (Reuters) – An unidentified gunman opened fire at a private Christian college in Oakland on Monday, leaving “multiple victims” wounded, police said, and a suspect was being sought.

Local television reports showed students being evacuated from Oikos University by police and loaded into a SWAT vehicle as other armed officers took up positions around the school.

“Multiple shooting victims reported, medical on-scene,” the Oakland police said in a statement, saying they were evacuating a nearby business.

Police said the suspect was in or near the area.

The school describes itself on its website as having been started to provide the “highest standard education with Christian value and inspiration.”
