‘Iran responsible for Israeli diplomat attack in Delhi’

Jul 30, 2012

New Delhi: Israel today launched a scathing attack against Iran accusing it of being the “number 1 exporter of state-sponsored terrorism in the world” in the backdrop of media report of alleged involvement of Iranian state agency in the attack against Israeli diplomat here.

Israel also said it has “full confidence” that justice will be done by the Indian authorities that are responsible for the investigation into the bomb attack case which took place in February this year.

“We have no doubt that the government of Iran is responsible for the terrorist attack against an Israeli diplomat and three Indian nationals in the heart of New Delhi on the 13/2,” spokesman for the Israeli Embassy here said.

According to the national daily, the investigation report in the attack case states that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps members had discussed the plan to attack the Israeli diplomats in India and other countries with Indian journalist Syed Mohammad Ahmad Kazmi in January 2011, after Iranian scientists had been attacked allegedly by the Israelis.

“Iran is the number 1 exporter of state-sponsored terrorism in the world. This is the same government that stands behind a long chain of attempts to kill innocent Israelis and Jews all over the world, that calls for the destruction of Israel and that continues its relentless clandestine effort to acquire nuclear weapons,” he said.

He also justified the economic sanctions and political isolation against Iran, saying they are the “right answer”.

“As we have stated time and again, we have the highest respect for the Indian authorities that are responsible for this investigation and have full confidence that justice will be done,” he said while wishing a “full and swift recovery” to Tal Yehoshua Koren, who was injured in the attack, and all the best to her family.

The 42-year-old Israeli diplomat, Koren, the wife of the defence attache at the Embassy, was badly wounded in the attack.
