New York City moved closer to resuming its frenetic pace by getting its vital subways running on Thursday, three days after Hurricane Sandy struck. Some 50 houses in Breezy Point, a neighbourhood located in the New York City borough of Queens were burnt due to the Storm. Neighbouring New Jersey was stunned by miles of coastal devastation and the news of thousands of people still stranded by increasingly fetid flood waters. Images of the destruction caused by Sandy.
