Helicopter crashes in central London near Vauxhall station

London: London’s Fire Brigade says it is responding to reports that a helicopter has crashed near the Vauxhall station in London.

A photo shown on Sky News showed wreckage burning in a street.

A BBC report says that the Vauxhall station is closed, with apparent debris on the ground, and a crane at the top of a new high rise development appears to be damaged. Train services were hit.

Some witnesses reported that a helicopter had collided with a construction crane.

Large plumes of black smoke were seen rising in the area, close to the Waterloo train station during the early morning rush hour.

There were no immediate reports on casualties.
