After eight years, two terms and countless speeches, Wednesday morning saw Barack Obama's seventh and the final State of the Union Address.
And the US President used the platform to the fullest, attacking every opposition he has faced during his tenure with his powerful and quite patriotic speech. From the Republican policies to Donald Trump's position on Muslims, from Islamic State to Russia and China, Obama took on these contentious issues head on with his cleverly crafted words. His words were greeted by thunderous applause, (with the note bale exception of Paul Ryan) as he sought to assert America's international might and spark optimism for the future in the year of the elections.
Here are the best quotes from Barack Obama's final State of the Union Address:
Who you gonna call?
Invoking the Apollo Mission
Taking on Trump's Muslim comments
The force to reckon
Lessons from Vietnam and Iraq
Cure for cancer
(For context, here is his full sentence. Last year, Vice President Biden said that with a new moonshot, America can cure cancer. Last month, he worked with this Congress to give scientists at the National Institutes of Health the strongest resources they’ve had in over a decade. Tonight, I’m announcing a new national effort to get it done.)
Playing into Islamic State's hand
Evil empires and falling states
