NASA employees applaud the safe landing of the Space Shuttle Discovery in the public affairs office at Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas 09 August 2005. Discovery touched down safely at Edwards Air Force Base in California, marking the culmination of the first gut-wrenching shuttle flight since Columbia disintegrated in 2003. Commander Eileen Collins landed Discovery at Edwards Air Force Base on schedule at 5:12 am (1212 GMT), ending a 14-day mission that NASA managers hailed as a success.

A flag stands out as winds over 20 mph (32 kmh) buffet Kennedy Space Center 09 October 2000 to causing NASA managers delay the launch of the Space Shuttle Discovery for at least another 24 hhours. Discovery and her crew were scheduled to launch 09 October from pad 39-A on an eleven-day mission to the International Space Station delivering and installing the Z-1 truss assembly.

Clouds settle in over the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) and the shuttle landing site at sunrise 08 August 2005, at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The two landing attempts by the Space Shuttle Discovery were waved off due to unstable weather at the landing site at Kennedy Space Center. Landing is now scheduled for 09 August.
