CPM leader VS Achuthanandan who grandly planned to break ranks with the CPM party and visit the site of the Kudankulam protests in Tamil Nadu had his journey end in an anti-climax when he was stopped at the border of the two states and asked to turn back in order to prevent worsening the existing law and order situation.
The CPM leader had declared that he would to to Kudankulam and has also previously said that nuclear power plants were very dangerous.
However, Achuthanandan's decision had been strongly opposed by his party, which has maintained that the closure of the plant would not help and had sought that they would prefer to be assured about the safety of the plant instead.
