On June 22, 2012, Nigeria's President Goodluck Jonathan sacked his national security adviser Lt. General Owoye Azazi and defence minister Dr. Bello Mohammed following mounting criticisms after a spate of attacks by the radical Islamists of Boko Haram in northern Nigeria states of Yobe, Kaduna and Borno. General Owoye Azazi was replaced by Sambo Dasuki.
