strongBangalore:/strong Tata Consultancy Services, India's top software services provider, said it agreed to pay $29.75 million to settle a class-action law suit in the United States, brought by two former non-US-citizen employees. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the largest software services exporter in India, posted better-than-expected earnings, giving a further boost to investors' confidence in Indian information technology companies. The company said its net profit for October-December stood at Rs 3552 crore, up 1.1 percent on quarter, and revenue at Rs 16,069.9 crore, up 3 percent. When Tata Consultancy Services officials talk, one would wonder whether the global economy has any problem at all. After last quarter earnings,I don't remember saying a single phrase that was not confident, replied Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director S Mahalingam to a reporter's question at the press conference announcing the earnings on Friday. He said the company will retain its margins around 27 percent, pricing environment is stable, discretionary spending is picking up and the company is very positive about the outlook. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is likely to report a 3.1 percent on quarter increase in net profit and a compression in its margins when it announces its July-September earnings today. According to aem CNBC-TV18 poll/em, net profit is seen Rs 3,382.7 crore versus Rs 3280.5 crore in the previous quarter. The dollar revenue is seen rising 4-4.5%, higher than its peers. Volume growth during the quarter is seen declining from 5.3 percent in the first quarter. International volume growth in the previous quarter was even higher at 5.9%. In comparison, HCL Technologies witnessed a volume growth of 4.5% and Infosys 3.8%. Like its peers, TCS's margins on earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) are also likely to be under pressure. Leading IT services firm Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) signed an agreement for Rs 103 crore end-to-end ICT solution for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) in West Bengal.
