Lahore: Former Pakistan Test leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed has signed a deal with IPL side Delhi Daredevils to work as their bowling consultant but has not made it public due to the recent backlash in India over the presence of Pakistani sportsmen there, sources said today.
A reliable source in Pakistan Cricket Board said that Mushtaq has indeed signed the contract but both parties had decided against any formal announcements in view of the recent backlash in India over presence of Pakistani sportsmen there.
Mushtaq had finalized the contract but is avoiding a confirmation because there is still time for IPL and he does not want any unnecessary attention to be created and problems to arise because of his involvement in IPL, the source said.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced special cash prizes for members of the national team that recently played the two Twenty20s and three-match ODI series in India.
The PCB said in a statement that chairman Zaka Ashraf had approved special cash prizes of 500,000 rupees for each member of the Pakistan team that drew the two T20 and won the ODI series in India.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has decided to retain senior batsman Misbah-ul-Haq as captain for the Test and one-day series in the forthcoming tour of South Africa.
The 38-year-old has drawn flak for his below-par performances in one-day cricket including the recent tour of India. The PCB had removed him as captain of the Twenty20 squad last year for being a slow scorer.
But sources in the PCB told PTI that the national selectors were told by the Board that Misbah will continue as captain for both formats while Mohammad Hafeez has been retained as captain of the T20 squad.
